While there many genetic conditions some life threatening. I am just going to talk about one genetic condition that of Down’s syndrome. In the same article, it reports that in Australia, 90 per cent of pregnancies are terminated if Down syndrome is detected, DSA says.

In an Article by Anna Ley on ABC News, they report that Iceland has a near 100% abortion rate if the baby in the womb is diagnosed with Down’s syndrome. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-05-01/iceland-prenatal-testing-down-syndrome-ethics/103781058 Why do we value people with Down’s syndrome less?

I know of a family where the mother was an older mother who was given an 1 in 5 chance that the baby would be born with Down’s syndrome. The mother went on with the pregnancy and the baby wasn’t born with Down’s syndrome but was really intelligent.
